IrelandKnown as "the Emerald Isle," Ireland is no doubt the greenest country of Europe. According to legend, a true Irishman can recognize at least 40 shades of green. The breeze that blows across the seas to Ireland drops its moisture from the time it touches the Irish shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean until it's well out into the Irish Sea. A raincoat or an umbrella - or both - is essential equipment for your visit, and a sweater, even in summer. But the sun also shines a bountiful bit of the time, and most of the time showers disappear as quickly as they come. © 2009, The Globe Pequot Press, LaVerne Ferguson-Kosinski Information by Europe by Eurail

Train Travel in Ireland and Ireland Rail Maps
Because the country is only about the size of the state of Pennsylvania in the United States, travelers can easily discover Ireland by using the rail and bus systems. The Connolly Station is the terminal in Dublin for trains arriving from Northern Ireland and for boat trains connecting with the Irish ferries that sail from the port of Rosslare, south of Dublin, to the French ports of Cherbourg and Le Harve. West of city center on the River Liffey, Heuston Station serves as the departure point for day excursions to Cork, Galway, Kilkenny, and Killarney. Eurail passes are accepted for rail travel in the Republic of Ireland, but not in Northern Ireland. The BritRail Pass + Ireland is accepted in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. © 2009, The Globe Pequot Press, LaVerne Ferguson-Kosinski Information by Europe by Eurail
