FinlandFinland is well-known for its unique natural beauty, including 188,000 lakes, 179,000 islands, and Europe's biggest archipelago. Known as the "Land of the Midnight Sun" in summer, it is an artistic array of color in autumn, dazzling white in winter, and awash in green beauty in spring. High-speed Pendolino S 220 trains and InterCity and express trains provide long-distance services, and local and commuter trains provide connections for shorter routes. Helsinki is served by a single train terminal, the Central Helsinki Railway Station, which is considered one of the most famous works of Finnish-American architect Eliel Saarinen. The terminal lies right in the heart of Helsinki and is close to everything. The train platforms have a total of 19 covered tracks. The variety of Eurail passes and ScanRail passes are accepted on the national rail network of Finland. © 2009, The Globe Pequot Press, LaVerne Ferguson-Kosinski Information by Europe by Eurail
